Gwyneth Heritage acted for Hollins Murray Group in their acquisition of the 12,000 sq ft Winstanley Shopping Centre in Wigan, with tenants including the Co-operative and Boots. HMG acquired the asset for an undisclosed sum using cash resources. Winstanley joins the Gerard Centre, Wigan and West Heath Shopping Centre, Congleton in HMG's portfolio.
Land Law acted for Silver Street Holdings which has completed the sale of 1 Yates Street in Oldham to the Oldham Unit of the Sea Cadets. The Sea Cadets have relocated from their former Derker Annex premises, which have been the subject of a CPO by Oldham Council as part of the Government's controversial pathfinder housing scheme. The transaction also involved a restructure of Silver Street Holdings' head lease of the building with landlord Oldham Council to pave the way for the Sea Cadet's use of the Property.
On Saturday 26 November Andrew Stone of Land Law competed in 'Dancing Strictly', a charity dance event based on Strictly Come Dancing. Andrew, an experienced dancer, competed with a novice partner against 9 other couples to raise money for various local charities, including the Christie Charitable Fund. Andrew and his partner won the event, which raised over £20,000.
Nicholas Illyr Pride has joined Land Law LLP having previously worked for DLA Piper in Sheffield and specialises in property litigation. He has extensive experience of all aspects of property litigation including landlord and tenant issues, acquisition and disposal advice, site assembly projects, development work and property management. Illyr has acted for a wide range of clients such as PLCs, property investors, housebuilders, developers, portfolio managers, landlords and tenants.
Land Law LLP has retained its position as a leading real estate firm in the 2012 Edition of the Chambers and Partners guide to the legal profession. Managing Partner Angus Whyte is a top-ranked practitioner and there is also a new entry for partner Helen Davidson.

Andrew is a transactional lawyer who acts for a variety of clients covering a wide range of non-contentious commercial property matters.
Andrew has particular expertise in relation to:
- acting for developers including site assembly through options and conditional contracts. This includes the ultimate disposal of sites with planning to end users and also disposal of sites with completed developments (subject to tenancies) to investment purchasers;
- landlord and tenant work, particularly in the retail sector;
- providing property advice to in-house commercial teams dealing with property due diligence during the purchase or disposal of corporate bodies with property holdings;
- secured funding for institutional lenders.
Andrew acts for a wide range of clients including a number of North West based property developers.
In the past Andrew has acted on schemes including conversion schemes of industrial and warehouse buildings to office or residential use and he has also acted on deals involving the construction of new business facilities on brown field sites.
Andrew has acted for several years on behalf of ICI Limited in dealing with the grant of leases for ICI Dulux Decorator Centres. In addition, he has provided support to ICI's in-house corporate lawyers during various business acquisitions. Andrew has also recently acted for a government body in the grant of interests to establish one of the UK's largest nature reserves in the North East of England.
Andrew is a pro bono director of the "Fusiliers' Museum" in Bury. This is a new museum developed with Heritage and Lottery Fund assistance to tell the story of the Lancashire Fusiliers and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.
Andrew joined Land Law in 2002 and became a partner in 2004. Before joining Land Law, Andrew worked for DLA (now DLA Piper) in Manchester and prior to that he worked at Burges Salmon in Bristol.
Outside work Andrew enjoys long distance running, hill walking and scuba diving.
