HMG acquire Winstanley Shopping Centre - January 2012
Gwyneth Heritage acted for Hollins Murray Group in their acquisition of the 12,000 sq ft Winstanley Shopping Centre in Wigan, with tenants including the Co-operative and Boots. HMG acquired the asset for an undisclosed sum using cash resources. Winstanley joins the Gerard Centre, Wigan and West Heath Shopping Centre, Congleton in HMG's portfolio.
New Home for Oldham Sea Cadets - December 2011
Land Law acted for Silver Street Holdings which has completed the sale of 1 Yates Street in Oldham to the Oldham Unit of the Sea Cadets. The Sea Cadets have relocated from their former Derker Annex premises, which have been the subject of a CPO by Oldham Council as part of the Government's controversial pathfinder housing scheme. The transaction also involved a restructure of Silver Street Holdings' head lease of the building with landlord Oldham Council to pave the way for the Sea Cadet's use of the Property.
Dancing Strictly - 26 November 2011
On Saturday 26 November Andrew Stone of Land Law competed in 'Dancing Strictly', a charity dance event based on Strictly Come Dancing. Andrew, an experienced dancer, competed with a novice partner against 9 other couples to raise money for various local charities, including the Christie Charitable Fund. Andrew and his partner won the event, which raised over £20,000.
Property Litigator Illyr Pride joins - November 2011
Nicholas Illyr Pride has joined Land Law LLP having previously worked for DLA Piper in Sheffield and specialises in property litigation. He has extensive experience of all aspects of property litigation including landlord and tenant issues, acquisition and disposal advice, site assembly projects, development work and property management. Illyr has acted for a wide range of clients such as PLCs, property investors, housebuilders, developers, portfolio managers, landlords and tenants.
Chambers and Partners 2012 'Leading Firm' - 26 October 2011
Land Law LLP has retained its position as a leading real estate firm in the 2012 Edition of the Chambers and Partners guide to the legal profession. Managing Partner Angus Whyte is a top-ranked practitioner and there is also a new entry for partner Helen Davidson.
Paul Grundy - Partner

Paul is a transactional lawyer dealing with all aspects of commercial property but with a particular leaning towards development work. He also enjoys assisting clients with complex transactions having over 20 years of commercial property experience to call upon.

Paul is known by colleagues and clients as an exceptional lawyer with a depth of knowledge of property law and commercial drafting which is rarely surpassed. In addition to general property work Paul assists with trust deeds for property co-owners and has experience acting on SIPP acquisitions. Paul also has a good working knowledge of VAT and SDLT and often advises clients on the pitfalls to be avoided.

Paul's clients are primarily developers, investors and landlords. He also works for a number of surveyors who instruct him when they have property transactions in their personal capacity and is highly recommended by local agents. Having acted for many years for a bank he has been retained by the bank's administrators who have put his detailed knowledge and understanding of the bank's broad portfolio of properties to good use in assisting them with disposals.

Recently Paul has acted for one of the firm's major clients in the exchange of a multi-million pound option agreement relating to a retail shopping centre, which included drafting and negotiation of complex development and planning obligations. He has also completed a sale to Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc and a letting to Sainsbury's Supermarkets Limited.

Paul completed his training with Worcestershire firm Morton Fisher (now MFG solicitors) before joining Addleshaw Goddard where he was an Associate Partner. He joined Land Law LLP in 1999 becoming the second partner of the firm in 2003 and has since worked with Angus in building Land Law to its current size and ranking as a North West 'Band 2' tiered firm in Chambers and Partners Guide.

When away from the office Paul enjoys hill walking, cycling and music.
