Dancing Strictly - 26 November 2011
On Saturday 26 November Andrew Stone of Land Law competed in 'Dancing Strictly', a charity dance event based on Strictly Come Dancing. Andrew, an experienced dancer, competed with a novice partner against 9 other couples to raise money for various local charities, including the Christie Charitable Fund. Andrew and his partner won the event, which raised over £20,000.
Renault dealership, Harrogate - July 2011
The Manchester based Oddfellows Property Fund has completed the acquisition of the Renault dealership at Wetherby Road, Harrogate, from PPH1 Limited, part of the Pendragon PLC group. The property is currently let to Reg Vardy (Property Management) Limited for a 25 year term. MUFS was advised by Land Law's Andrew Stone, with investment advice provided by Christopher Dee.
Ruth Ormrod - Associate Partner (Property Litigation)

Ruth is a property litigation lawyer advising on all areas of commercial property ownership, in particular landlord and tenant markets acting for investors, owners, property managers and occupiers.

Her work includes the following:

- Portfolio/asset management including recovery of arrears, possession, lease renewals, rent reviews, specific performance claims, landlord and tenant issues and dilapidations.

- Advising on land assembly issues involving the removal of tenants, issues of ownership, rights of way and restrictive covenants

- Acting for landlords and tenants with regard to disputes concerning breaches of covenants in leases, including forfeiture, claims for damages and applications for relief from forfeiture and breaches arising in relation to insolvent tenants and landlords.

- Alienation issues, including consents to assignment and underletting and the unreasonable withholding of consent and issues arising from this

Recently, Ruth has advised on cases involving rights of access, restrictive covenants and recovering possession for the redevelopment of a shopping centre. In addition to this Ruth has advised on enforcing breaches of covenant against tenants to realise the reversionary value of the landlord's property.

Ruth is a Committee Member of the Association of Women Solicitors.

Before joining Land Law LLP Ruth trained and qualified at Ward Hadaway Solicitors in Newcastle upon Tyne.

In her spare time Ruth enjoys walking and cycling.
